L’insertion dans la carrière professorale au sein des universités québécoises : une analyse secondaire
Abstract
Integrating new professors is a considerably challenging aspect of revitalizing a faculty. The following article undertakes an analysis of secondary data from three studies. This enables, notably, the identification of the various stages of the integration process in Québec universities, including recruitment and the first six years of employment. In addition, the analysis emphasizes the inter-relation between factors present at the time of hiring—structural frameworks such as public policies, research infrastructures, funding for research and universities—that influence the requirements set at that stage and at the end of aggregation, their impact on the faculty members’ workload, as well as individual strategies adopted by new professors in this context in order to address the inherent difficulties and challenges of this career stage.
