As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
The CJHE-RCES is an open-access publication of the Canadian Society for the Study of Higher Education and published English or French manuscripts. The Journal is financially supported by a Social Science and Humanities Research Council Aid to Scholarly Publication Grant, which covers publication costs. Therefore, as an open access journal, the CJHE-RCES does not charge authors a submission or article processing fee. Submission of a manuscript to CJHE-RCES entails that neither the manuscript nor any substantially similar manuscript has been published, is in press, or is under consideration elsewhere.
Book reviews
Authors interested in submitted a book review must first contact the Book Review editor, Walter Archer, at walter.archer@ualberta.ca to confirm the text to be reviewed and the style of the review.
Format
Use a standard typeface and size (e.g., Times Roman 12 pt.) and double space throughout, including block quotations, references, and notes. Manuscripts are not to exceed 7,000 words (around 6,500 words minimum), including tables, references, and endnotes. Please provide an abstract of up to 250 words.
Style

Tables and figures

Figures should have a resolution of 300 ppi to ensure legibility when printed. Whenever possible, include the original file that was used to create the figure (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, or Photoshop).
Ensure pattern (not colour) is used to distinguish portions of the figure, or used in the legend. While the colour version of the manuscript will be made available on the CJHE Open Journal System, some readers may only be able to print a black-and-white version of the manuscript, and figures need to be legible without colour.
Running head
A running head of up to 50 characters in length should be included in the manuscript.
References and citations

Endnotes
Footnotes are not allowed and endnotes should be minimal and be listed after the text and before the Reference section, having been marked within the text by superscript numerals.
