Le stress, les stratégies d’adaptation, le locus de contrôle et l’épuisement professionnel chez les professeurs universitaires francophones
Abstract
A French-language questionnaire on stress (“Teacher Stress Inventory,” Fimian, 1984), coping strategies (“Brief Cope,” Carver, 1997), locus of control (“Work Locus of Control Scale,” Spector, 1988), and burnout (“Maslach Burnout Inventory,” Maslach, Jackson, & Leiter, 1996) was given to a sample of francophone university professors. The differential functioning of each of the four scales was done with structural equation models. Stress and burnout, as well as sources of stress and main coping strategies, by age and sex were determined. Two conclusions were reached: there is a direct link between stress and emotions; and francophone university professors are no more stressed or burnt out than other professionals.
